Chives Planting Instructions:
1. When to Plant: Sow indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost, or direct sow as soon as the soil is workable in the spring.
2. Preparation: Prefers rich, moist, well-drained soil and full sun. They will also perform well in partial shade.
3. Sowing: Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep. Keep the soil consistently moist until they sprout.
4. Care: Once established, Chives are incredibly hardy. Dig up and divide the clumps every 3-4 years to keep the plants vigorous.
5. Pests and Diseases: Very few pests bother chives. In fact, they help protect their neighbors! Harvest by cutting the leaves down to 2 inches above the soil.
