Large Red Cherry Tomato Planting Instructions:
1. When to Plant: Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. These tomatoes love the heat, so wait until the soil is warm before transplanting.
2. Preparation: Because these vines are vigorous, they need plenty of "vertical real estate." Ensure you have a tall cage or trellis ready to support the heavy fruit clusters.
3. Sowing: Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep in a quality seed-starting mix. Keep the soil warm (75-80°F) to ensure fast and even germination.
4. Care: Tomatoes are deep drinkers! Water consistently at the base of the plant to keep the fruit from cracking. Pruning the lower "suckers" will help the plant focus its energy on fruit production.
5. Pests and Diseases: Watch for aphids and hornworms. Harvest the tomatoes when they are a deep, uniform red and pull easily from the stem.
