Seven Top Turnip Planting Instructions:
1. When to Plant: Plant in early spring or late summer. Seven Top is incredibly hardy and can even survive light snowfalls in many climates.
2. Preparation: These plants love nitrogen! Prepare your bed with well-rotted manure or a nitrogen-rich compost to support the rapid leaf growth.
3. Sowing: Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep in rows 12-15 inches apart. Keep the area weed-free while the seedlings are small.
4. Care: Water regularly. If the plants get stressed, the leaves can become tough and bitter. You can harvest the entire plant or just snip the outer leaves for a "cut and come again" supply.
5. Pests and Diseases: Aphids can sometimes be attracted to the tender growth; a quick spray of soapy water usually clears them. Harvest when the leaves are 6-10 inches long for the best texture.
