    Buckwheat Planting Instructions:

    1. When to Plant: Buckwheat is very sensitive to frost. Plant in late spring after the soil has warmed up. You can continue planting up until a month before the first fall frost.

    2. Preparation: No special preparation is needed! Buckwheat will grow in just about anything. Simply clear the surface of large weeds.

    3. Sowing: Sow seeds 1/2 inch deep. For cover cropping, you can broadcast the seeds at a rate of about 1 pound per 500 square feet.

    4. Care: Buckwheat is the ultimate "low-care" plant. It grows so fast it will naturally out-compete most weeds. It needs very little water once established.

    5. Pests and Diseases: Buckwheat is generally pest-free. If harvesting for grain, cut the plants when about 75% of the seeds have turned brown.
