Chia Planting Instructions:
1. When to Plant: Chia loves the sun! Plant outdoors in late spring once all danger of frost is gone. They need a long, warm season to produce seeds.
2. Preparation: Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil. Chia does not like "wet feet," so ensure the soil doesn't stay soggy.
3. Sowing: Scatter the tiny seeds on the surface and lightly press them into the soil. Barely cover them, as they need a little light to wake up.
4. Care: Once the plants reach 6 inches tall, they are very self-sufficient. Water only during extreme dry spells.
5. Pests and Diseases: Chia is naturally pest-resistant (most bugs don't like the scent of the leaves). Harvest the seeds by cutting the flower heads once the petals have fallen off and drying them in a paper bag.
