Shop the highest quality Cumin seeds and bring the flavors of the world to your backyard garden. Cumin is the "Heartbeat of the Spice Rack," providing that unmistakable warm, earthy, and slightly nutty aroma that anchors everything from sizzling Mexican fajitas to rich Indian curries. Most people have only ever seen Cumin as a powder in a store-bought jar, but the "Garden-Fresh Revolution" starts here—growing your own Cumin allows you to harvest seeds with a potency and oil content that commercial spices simply cannot match.
In the garden, Cumin is a delicate and beautiful addition. It is the "Lacy Lookout" of the herb bed, producing fine, feathery foliage and clusters of dainty white or pink umbrella-shaped flowers that attract beneficial pollinators. Because it is a compact grower, it is the perfect "Space-Saver" for sunny windowsills, patio containers, or the front of a raised bed. At The Seed Guy, our seeds are tested for elite germination, ensuring you get a bountiful harvest of aromatic spice pods that are sun-ripened, hand-harvested, and packed with heritage flavor.

Cumin Planting Instructions:
1. When to Plant: Cumin requires a long, warm growing season (about 4 months). In cooler climates, start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost in peat pots to avoid disturbing the roots. In warmer zones, direct sow once the soil has consistently reached 70°F.
2. Preparation: Cumin loves "sun and sand." Choose a location with full sun and well-draining, sandy or loamy soil. It does not like "wet feet," so ensure your garden bed or container has excellent drainage.
3. Sowing: Plant seeds 1/4 inch deep. If direct sowing, plant in clusters of 3-4 seeds and thin them once they reach 2 inches tall. Cumin plants are small and delicate, so planting them relatively close together helps them support each other as they grow.
4. Watering and Care: Water regularly to keep the soil moist while the plants are young, but decrease watering once the flowers begin to turn into seed pods. Cumin is a "Sun-Seeker" and thrives in the heat of mid-summer.
5. Harvesting: This is where the magic happens! Harvest the seeds once the clusters (umbels) turn brown and the plant begins to wither. Cut the stems and place the seed heads in a paper bag in a warm, dry place. Once dry, rub the heads between your hands to release the "Spice Gold" Cumin seeds!
