The "Gourmet Perennial" That Returns Every Year with Fiery Flavor

Shop the highest quality wild arugula seeds for the variety that true garden connoisseurs crave. While standard arugula is a one-and-done annual, the Wild Sylvetta is the "Resilient Renegade" of the plot—it is a hardy selection of perennial herb seeds that survives the winter to provide the very first spicy greens of spring. If you are looking for a pepper-packed punch that makes store-bought items taste bland, this yellow-flowered favorite delivers a distinctly fiery flavor profile straight to your rows. At The Seed Guy, we believe we aren't just selling packets; we are helping you build a permanent backyard food resource.

In the garden, this robust variety produces beautiful, deeply-lobed, feathery leaves on a compact plant that loves full sun but can handle seasonal shifts beautifully. In the kitchen, these greens are a Chef's favorite; their intense, nutty, and sharp characteristics are the secret to a world-class arugula pesto. Because it grows back year after year, it stands as the ultimate addition to your gourmet salad greens patch. Sowing our top-tier, non-gmo heirloom packets ensures you get an abundant harvest backed by premium heat tolerance that keeps your kitchen beautifully supplied. Wild Sylvetta Arugula Planting Instructions:

      1. When to Plant: Direct sow in the garden as soon as the soil can be worked in early spring, or start indoors 4 weeks before the last frost. Because this is a hardy perennial, it thrives in cooler temperatures and will establish a strong root system to return year after year.

      2. Preparation: Wild Sylvetta loves full sun but is famous for its ability to handle partial shade better than most greens. It prefers well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Ensure the area is weed-free, as these "wee-bitty" seeds don't like to compete while sprouting.

      3. Sowing: These seeds are tiny and require light to germinate. Scatter them on the surface of the soil and gently press them down with your hand—do not cover them with dirt. Use a fine mist to keep the area moist until you see the first green shoots appear.

      4. Care: This variety is much slower to "bolt" (go to seed) than standard arugula, but you should still keep the soil consistently moist to maintain the best flavor. Once the plant is established, it is incredibly drought-tolerant and requires very little maintenance.

      5. Pests and Diseases: While generally pest-resistant, the peppery oils in the leaves act as a natural deterrent. Harvest the outer leaves first to allow the center to keep producing. In the fall, let the plant go to sleep for the winter, and watch for it to be the first green to pop back up in your spring garden!
