Shop the highest quality Crimson Giant Radish seeds and prepare to be amazed at how big a radish can actually get. When it comes to size without the sacrifice of quality, Crimson Giant is the "King of the Patch." While most radishes get "woody" when they grow past an inch, this heirloom stays sweet, crisp, and juicy even when it reaches the size of a small turnip! At The Seed Guy, we recommend this variety because it is the premier choice for creating "gourmet platters" with large, beautiful white-fleshed slices that have just the right amount of zing.
In the garden, Crimson Giant is a vigorous grower that stands out with its deep, crimson-purple skin. Because it grows larger, it is a "satisfying harvest" for gardeners who want more "bang for their buck" from a single row. It is a fantastic companion plant for parsnips and onions, helping to loosen the soil as it expands its large, round root. At The Seed Guy, our seeds are tested for elite germination, ensuring you get robust, high-yield plants that provide a giant-sized crunch that will have the whole neighborhood talking.

Crimson Giant Radish Planting Instructions:
1. When to Plant: Plant in early spring or late summer. Because these roots grow larger, they appreciate the slightly longer, cooler days of the "shoulder seasons."
2. Preparation: These "giants" need a little more room than their smaller cousins. Ensure your soil is loose to at least 4 inches deep and enriched with a little organic matter to support the rapid root expansion.
3. Sowing: Sow seeds 1/2 inch deep. Because the root gets wide, space your seeds at least 2 inches apart from the start to avoid "cramping" the giants.
4. Care: Water deeply. If the plant experiences a "dry spell," the skin can become thick and the flavor too spicy. Keeping the roots cool and wet is the secret to that "Giant Sweetness."
5. Pests and Diseases: Root maggots are the primary concern; using a light mulch can help protect the soil. Harvest when they reach about 1 to 1.5 inches for the perfect balance of size and flavor.
