Hales Best Cantaloupe Planting Instructions:
1. Timing: Sow outdoors only after the soil is warm and all frost danger has passed.
2. Sowing: Plant in "hills" of rich soil, sowing 4-6 seeds per hill. Thin to the strongest 2-3 plants.
3. Care: Provide plenty of water early on, but reduce watering as the fruits approach maturity to concentrate the sugars.
4. Harvesting: Harvest at "full slip"—when the stem separates easily from the fruit.
5. Pests & Disease: Watch for Cucumber Beetles and Powdery Mildew. Ensure good air circulation and avoid overhead watering to keep the vines healthy.
