Early Prolific Straightneck Squash Planting Instructions:
1. When to Plant: Sow outdoors once the soil is warm and nights stay above 60°F. These plants thrive in the heat and will grow rapidly once established.
2. Preparation: Select a full-sun location with rich, well-draining soil. Adding a handful of bone meal to the planting hill can help with blossom development.
3. Sowing: Plant 3 seeds per hill, 1 inch deep. Space hills 3 feet apart. Thin to the strongest plant to ensure plenty of airflow around the leaves.
4. Care: Keep the soil consistently moist. If the plant gets stressed by drought, it may drop its blossoms. Mulch around the base to keep the roots cool.
5. Pests and Diseases: Keep a lookout for Cucumber Beetles. Harvest frequently when the fruits are 4-7 inches long to encourage the plant to keep blooming.
