Shop the highest quality Tendergreen Mustard seeds and discover the most versatile "Green" in the heirloom world. Often called "Mustard Spinach," Tendergreen is the perfect solution for gardeners who love the health benefits of dark leafy greens but prefer a smooth, mild flavor without the sharp "peppery" bite of traditional mustards. At The Seed Guy®, our seeds are 100% Non-GMO and open-pollinated, offering you a fast-growing, heavy-yielding plant that thrives when other greens begin to wilt.
In the garden, Tendergreen is a champion of resilience. It is the "Heat-Defying Hero" of the greens patch, showing remarkable resistance to bolting during mid-summer spikes while still being hardy enough to handle a light autumn frost. The large, smooth, dark-green leaves are succulent and tender, making them ideal for fresh salads when young, or for steaming and stir-frying when mature. Because it is so fast-growing (ready in as little as 35 days), it is the "Quick-Crop King" for gardeners looking to maximize their seasonal output through succession planting. At The Seed Guy®, our seeds are tested for elite germination, ensuring your garden is packed with high-energy, nutrient-dense greens from early spring through late fall.

Tendergreen Mustard Planting Instructions:
1. When to Plant: Tendergreen is incredibly flexible. Direct sow as soon as the soil can be worked in early spring. Unlike most greens, it can be planted every 2 weeks throughout the summer for a continuous "Succession Harvest" and again in late summer for a fall crop.
2. Preparation: Choose a location with full sun to partial shade. Mustard greens love nitrogen-rich soil, so amend your bed with plenty of compost or organic matter before sowing.
3. Sowing: Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep. For baby greens, sow seeds thickly in rows. For large, mature leaves, space plants or thin seedlings to 6-12 inches apart. Rows should be 12-18 inches apart to allow for easy weeding.
4. Watering and Care: Keep soil consistently moist to prevent the leaves from becoming too spicy or tough. Mulching around the plants will help regulate soil temperature and keep the "Quick-Crop" growing rapidly.
5. Harvesting: You can begin harvesting individual outer leaves when they reach 3-4 inches long (baby stage) for the mildest flavor. For a full harvest, cut the entire plant at the base. Frequent harvesting of outer leaves encourages the plant to continue producing fresh, tender growth from the center.
